Title: DIY Indoor Plants
Broadcast: October 7th 2017
Presenter: Bonnie-Marie Hibbs
Having plants in our daily surroundings can do wonders for our health and mental wellbeing. They have been proven to be effective in removing the Volatile Organic Compounds that pollute the air we breathe inside every day.
- Plants can be a great way to transform and even enhance a room by adding colour and texture. The room Bonnie shows us has a lot of neutral tones and rich wooden textures but by adding plants with large lush green or colourful foliage can bring a new atmosphere and liven up the space.
- When choosing plants for your home think of the style of ‘Plant Décor’ you wish to have. You can create a tropical oasis by using plants which have lush, colourful foliage or for a rustic country feel, try using a selection of plants with soft textures and lush foliage.
- Pots and baskets can be another fun way to bring colour into a room. Pots with decorative patterns can be partnered with plants that show similar colours in their foliage or flowers.
- A key step to growing indoor plants successfully, is knowing the position they will be placed in the room. A room which is exposed to less natural light choose plants that usually tend to be more tolerant of darker spaces. Also keep in mind the change of seasons throughout the year as this can affect the intensity of the sunlight coming through a window.
- Home décor goes a long way but plants can be that little something extra. They can help us to improve the look and atmosphere of our homes and ben beneficial to us as well. There is really no reason not to try growing your very own indoor plant, there is nothing for you to lose!
