Story: Self feeding Lawn

• About 5 years ago the joys of having a beautiful expanse of lawn was tempered by the fact that it was infested with a particularly nasty weed called onehunga or JoJo, which produces innumerable prickles that make it impossible to walk barefooted on your turf.
• The lawn has received no fertilizer in 5 year and it's not only green but it recovers from damage at lightning speed and when you dig up a square the soil is teeming with earthworms.
• The lawn food is coming from the lawn clippings. The mower has mulching blades which pulverize the clippings into fine threads which are then forced back into the grass. Here they compost down and feed the soil.
• While mulching blades are available in regular push mowers you can take the catcher off your conventional mower and give it three runs over the area at a time.
