It’s time to gather an absolute citrus classic, used in cocktails and cooking, the humble orange with a twist, the Blood Orange.

• The amazing tree in Trev’s Garden, produces between 250 - 300 fruit a season, here at Trev’s they juice them, dry them for addition to cocktails and eat them fresh.
• The flesh is red due to it being a natural mutation of the Sicilian orange!
• If you only get a bit of red coloring, you’re in a warmer climate, in fact, in stores the longer its kept in cold storage the deeper blood red the flesh gets.
• There’s not a lot you have to do to get a great result from a blood orange variety, the one Trev has today is a Maltese.
• There are however several varieties to be found in your local garden centre, and to take care of the tree, you do have to feed it as you harvest the crop!
