Lawn Care Tips
Story: Lawn Care Tips
Episode: 06
Presenter: Michael Maartensz
Air Date: 1st October 2022
- Michael makes note of how important soil moisture uniformity is and auditing an irrigation system to establish distribution uniformity.
- Soil moisture uniformity is also extremely important for the performance of your lawn as this can be a denominator for lawns dying.
- Michael uses a cloud based POGO soil sensing system which allowed him to map the soil moisture uniformity along with other key measurements such as soil temperature, electrical conductivity, salinity, and surface temperature.
- Having a uniform irrigation system that can deliver a distribution uniformity of over 80% will allow you to not only keep your lawn healthy but you will also save on the amount of water that is required to keep it in this way.
- The first response when a dry patch appears is to increase the run time and therefore the amount of water that is going out. This isn’t always ideal however as more water can lead to a higher incidence of fungal disease, organic thatch build up and can create an anaerobic environment.
- With a performing irrigation system, you can save water, time and money and prevent your lawn from dying this summer.
