Waterwise Rebate Inside House
Episode: WA Garden Gurus Special - Summer Gardens
Presenter: Sue McDougall
The Waterwise Rebate Programme was introduced to help Western Australians become more water efficient offering rebates on a variety of household products. Already over 200,000 Western Australian families have taken advantage of the programme saving more than 6 billion litres of water annually.
Sue visits a new house that has been built as part of the waterwise display village, but if you have got an existing house what can you do to save more water inside?
Flow regulators take the place of existing tap washers and allow the flow of water at pre-determined rates.
A water efficient showerhead can save up to 3,300 litres per person per year. A rebate is available on all approved showerheads.
A good washing machine can reduce water use in the laundry by up to 40%. Just check the star rating for water efficiency before you purchase a new machine.
There is a new rating system being implemented over the next few months based on a star system, so for more information on what products are eligible for a rebate go to the Department of Water website.
