Cool winter weather brings forth a whole bevy of a gardener’s worst nightmare, weeds by the yard-full. Lawns can really cop it sweet particularly if the previous season caused it some stress through drought or insect attack
Some of the most common weeds for this season are dandelion, with its tooth like leaves and fleabane which can get to half a metre tall if it is not mowed down. Rather than automatically reach for a sprayer have a go at uprooting the little pests with this ingenious Weed Puller from Fiskars.
Position the jaws over the offending weed, push down on the handle then rock it to the side of the foot pedal, this tightens the jaw, and neatly pulls the weed from the earth. Next use the slide to eject the rotten little thing into a bin.
Now there is one possible saving grace for weeds. If you have working compost system you can throw them in and enjoy the thought that Mother Nature is about to disintegrate them cell by cell.
