Water Saving Taps and Showers
Episode: VIC Special
Date: 24th January
Story: Water Saving Taps and Showers
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Over 50% of water used in the household is from the bathroom. Trevor shows us how we can reduce water consumption by changing our shower heads.
Quick facts
- Old fashioned shower heads use around 22 litres a minute. Modern shower sprays use as little as nine litres per minute.
- The average shower is around six minutes so changing shower heads can save up to 78 litres per shower per adult. Over 12 months that is a saving of 28,000 litres; the same amount of water used to fill a swimming pool.
Featured Product
Methven SatinJet
- Methven is a market leader in Australia for water efficient showers and tapwares.
- Methven produces a wide range of innovative water saving bathroom accessories to deliver a satisfying shower whilst using minimal amounts of water.
- The result is a shower head called SatinJet. SatinJet technology reduces water use to 9 litres per minute but doesn?t compromise the satisfaction in having a shower.
- This technology was developed in New Zealand. The twin jet technology creates two jets of water which are aimed at each other and collide and this causes the formation of soft droplets. There?s over 3000 per second which give a great feeling of all over coverage whilst you?re still only using 9 litres per minute.
- It?s s all about giving the feeling of a great shower, plentiful spray, strong pressure and constant temperature.
- Methven?s SatinJet technology was recognized by Choice magazine as having the best spray coverage in March 2007.
- By just changing your showerhead, you can save 100,000 litres of water and $100 off your energy bills per year for a family of four.
