- Mary is an artist and has used her design skills to create a trompe l'oeil, a painting that creates an illusion of a three dimensional space.
- The trompe l?oeil gives a sense of being in southern Europe
- Plants have been used in the garden in a very clever way
- Grape vine planted next to the trompe l?oeil which will grow over the top and add to the atmosphere
- Other plants used are common to southern Europe?s region include
- Grapes, standard roses, and potted oil olives, espalier citrus.
- European style pottery used to accent certain areas throughout the garden
- John, Mary?s husband, prefers a tropical style garden and has created a private oasis very cleverly in a pocket of the backyard. He has done this including;
- A water feature surround by stone carvings, ferns, palms and to Trevor?s surprise, a paw paw tree.
