• Autumn is the perfect time to get plants into the ground for a few reasons. Apart from autumn rains to aid quick establishment, plants can set out their roots at this time of the year when temperatures are cooler and as the soil is moist.?

COMPOST

• Firstly bolster the soil with lots of compost.
• You can buy compost by the cubic metre and have it delivered to your doorstep, or you can also get composted mulch.
• Lawn will also benefit from compost. Massaging organic matter into the lawn will help it recover from a tough summer.

SOIL CONDITIONER

• A soil conditioner is ideal for adding into the soil before planting or into a vegetable patch to increase the fertility of the soil. However it?s also terrific to coat your suffering lawn with as a top dressing.

• When plants are bedded in autumn they have nearly 6 months of mild weather in which to send out a solid root system and get established before the most severe conditions arrive in the form of high summer with its searing heat and dryness across most of Southern WA.
• The contrast is those that are planted in spring or early summer with shallow root systems may dry out fast.? Not a recipe for success.
