African Lily, Agapanthus orientalis
- One of the easiest plants to divide and replant.
- Put spade under clump and lift.
- Remove ratty leaves.
- Using secateurs, divide large tuber into smaller pieces.
- Plant straight into ground and water in.
??Evergreen giant?, Liriope gigantea
- Great bordering plants. They are extremely tough.
- Grab spade and give plant a lift.
- Divide by chopping through roots with spade, leaving reasonable amount of root on each piece.
- Trim back top, and put straight into ground or pot up for planting later in spring.
Roses, Plumbago, Viburnums
- Can be grown from cuttings.
- Cut a piece of new growth, strip off bottom leaves, remove any flowers and keep a few leaves on top.
- Poke cuttings into a pot with seed raising mix and once they?ve developed roots, repot or plant out after winter.
Spineless Yuccas, Yucca elephantipe
- Are easy to propagate.
- Cut off good length with pair of loppers, strip/cut off lower leaves and put in dry spot for a few days.
- Once cut has healed over, pot up.
- Cutting back plants like yuccas is good, as they quickly recover from the trim and send out multiple growths from that point.
Daffodils, Hyacinths
- Growing plants from seed can be very economical.
- Bulbs are great addition for winter colour.
- They will live, grow and multiply on their own.
