Garden Profile – Victoria Park Community Garden
Segment: Garden Profile – Victoria Park Community Garden
Episode: Spring 2019, Ep08
Presenter: Nigel Ruck
TX Date: 26th October 2019
Nigel pays a visit to Victoria Park Community Garden to share a couple of tips.
- The orange tree has been in the ground for 6 years and it yet to fruit – citrus fruits love the sun, so options involve trimming the branches, or transplanting to an area with more sun.
- If you have one apricot tree that has been pollinated, but others have not, you can isolate that one tree, allow the others to get pollinated and then net them later.
- The Community Garden is home to some lovely, well maintained garden beds.
- Visitors to the garden are encouraged to leave their food scraps in the worm tower. It is dug into the ground, with holes drilled into the bottom half so that worms can get in and compost the food waste. Once it is composted, the tower is pulled out and placed somewhere else.
