Trevor takes us through the wild variety of wonderful tomatoes and the difference between an heirloom tomato and an F1 Hybrid!

• Have you ever wandered into your local garden centre and found yourself getting confused over what the different varieties mean? Let Trev explain!
• Starting with the Heirloom variety VS the F1 Hybrid, the heirlooms are typically unusually shaped, coloured, and sized.
• The heirloom varieties also include Grosse Lisse, Tommy Toe, Rouge de Marmande and oxheart.
• Heirlooms generally produce a nice and good harvest but not a lot of fruit.
• F1 hybrids have varieties like Sungold, Crimson Crush, and Sweet Million.
• The F1 hybrid carries improvements from its parent, such as disease resistance and a faster production. This means they are commonly grown commercially.
• Head to your local garden center and check out the Mr. Fothergill’s seed packets, make sure to check out the information on the packet for growing seeds to crops at home successfully!
