Episode: 4
Presenter: Neville Passmore
Air Date: 23rd March 2024
Neville takes one minute to show us a hack for growing your own pineapples at home.
- Pineapple, a fruit-bearing member of the Bromeliad family, is easy to grow anywhere in Australia and can be a simple and rewarding endeavour.
- To start, remove the top of the pineapple and strip the leaves around the base.
- Allow the top to dry indoors for a few days, and over time roots will begin to emerge.
- Water your pineapple top from above, allowing some water to be retained.
- Pineapple plants prefer light shade initially, transitioning to full sun once established.
- Regular feeding with liquid fertilizer is recommended.
- After established, flowers and fruit typically develop within two years.
