Neville dives into the world of water lilies, sharing how these stunning blooms bring magic to garden ponds and thrive with just the right care and feeding!
- Native to the Nile River in Egypt and Arnhem Land in Australia, water lilies bring a touch of magic to any garden pond.
- The Hardy tribe thrives in cooler climates (Melbourne to Brisbane), while the Tropical tribe loves warmth (north of Melbourne to the Top End).
- Water lilies adapt to depths from 30 cm to 2 metres, but prefer areas away from splashing water so their leaves can stay dry most of the time.
- Use a sandy aquatic potting mix, top with pebbles for stability, and feed with fertilizer tablets every 6 weeks from spring to late autumn.
- Modern breeding has produced stunning new colours, flowers close at night and reopen by day, can be cut for indoor display, and even have edible petals for salads!
