Trevor tries out the Scotts-Osmocote Best Potting Mix to answer whether it has really earned its title.

• Rigorous trials and examinations from the Australian Institute of Horticulture have validated their claim to fame. Compared to the other leading potting mixes sold at Bunnings, and even their own mix, Scotts delivers larger plants, more plentiful fr uits and flowers, stronger and more resilient roots, and lusher growth.
• The product has a bold claim on the tin, and customers would be right to be sceptical. The AIH, TAFEs, universities, public gardens, and professional gardeners were invited to assess the product, and they all put their weight behind it.
• The quality of the soil saves gardeners time and effort down the line. Better water and nutrient absorption mean less time spent watering and feeding. Fertiliser is mixed into the potting mix, so for the first 12 months you do not have to worry about that, its taken care of.
• Many gardeners only look at what they can see, not what the plants are growing from. Having a good soil base is vital for successful plant growth, it is the foundation of growth moving forward. Don’t believe the claim, why not try it and compare?
