It is tomato-growing time and, if you're new to growing edibles, the tomato is a great introduction as they are relatively easy to look after and produce fruit quickly.
Tomato tips
- Creating a climbing frame for cherry tomatoes is a great idea, especially the new black climbing cherry tomato variety. All you need is chicken wire and garden stakes to create your frame.
- Germinating your own tomato seeds is simple and quick, with seedlings ready to be planted in the garden within a month.
- The trick to success is to soak the seedlings in a Seasol solution before planting in order to reduce transplant shock. Once in the ground, water them once a week with the Seasol PowerFeed for Vegies solution and you'll enjoy ultimate fruiting results.
