With Christmas just a few days away and months of summer celebrations ahead of us Phil has dropped into Botanix to have a look at a few ideas to help dress up our outdoor areas for the festive season.
Kate Fitzgerald is Botanix Horticulturalist and Garden Designer who shows Phil some of the outdoor furniture that can be found at their centre as well as some plants to compliment the area.
Just one of the displays includes a very stylish and comfortable outdoor setting decorated with plants such as the Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum, Hybrid Cultivar ‘Sensation’) with its beautiful green leaves and big white spath flowers are absolutely glorious, the Gardenia (Gardenia augusta ‘Florida’) for a hint of perfume and looks very elegant mixed in with some artwork from “My Piece of Africa” giving you a resort type feeling in your own backyard.
Another resort type idea is like putting a bit of Port Douglas in the garden dressed with a beautiful tropical backdrop of golden canes, kentia palms, bamboo reed palms, large elephant ears will give you a lush tropical look. With this lush tropical foliage you only need just a splash of colour like bromeliads, heliconias and birds of paradise.
