Edible delights for the metro garden

Title: Edible delights for the metro garden
Episode: 1 Hour WA Easter Special
Broadcast Date: 17th April
Presenter: Trevor

If you want to know where your vegetables, herbs and fruits come from, how they are grown, and if they are free from harmful pesticides, the best way to do it is to grow them in your own backyard. Growing produce at home is not as intimidating as it sounds, and Trevor suggests some great plants you can be growing in your Perth garden right now.

  • Swan Valley Nursery is a good place to start your search for the ultimate edible garden.
  • Some of the best plants to include are kale, red and green tatsoi, chards, silver beet and watermelon radish.
  • Include some great potting mix that meets Australian standards, here at The Garden Gurus we like to use WA owned and made Bailey’s products.
  • Planting in a self-watering tray is also great; it will look after your plants even if you miss a day or two.
  • Your plants will be ready to harvest within a couple of weeks.
