- One secret of growing the maidenhair fern is that they love light so put them beside a window indoors or they will also thrive on a patio.
- The fiddle-leaf philodendron is a tough plant that can be kept compact by regular pruning or you can let it loose on the beam of a pergola and it will climb the pole.
- Outdoor shrubs that go well, include Aussie natives such as Eremophila ‘Yanna Road’ this tough beauty is a great bird attractor, and it needs to have well drained soil so it may need planting in a raised bed.
- Grevillea Scarlet Sprite has wonderful bird attracting flower clusters though winter and spring and lights up the sky with its colour.
