Great Gifts

Next time you’re wondering what to buy somebody for a present why not get a plant because they make great gifts. There is something really special about giving someone a living thing. When purchasing a gift you should consider the person’s character and living environment combined with the occasion. It’s important to remember that the plant itself can deliver a strong message or subtle hint.

A favourite gift is the Olive tree, valued for its gift bearing properties. According to Greek legend Athens was named after the goddess Athena, after she gave the Olive tree to humanity. They are hardy plants which do well in the garden or in pots; they look great, produce fruit and are known as the symbol of joy and peace.

If you’re after some safe options for general occasions, indoor plants are great. Plants like Madonna Lilies, Dracaenas and Kentia Palms are good. They are hardy too, perfect for the brown thumbs.

Another great option are succulents, low maintenance plants with plenty of sass. Girls, why not do something nice for your man and buy him a plant. But you have to get it right, as men can be a little bit touchy about our masculinity so choose carefully, something with a bit of grunt that they could show off to their mates. A number of different cacti varieties are ideal.

For the guys, you have to think romance to make her feel like the most loved woman on earth. Perhaps you combine a plant or flowers with another gift, perfume or jewellery perhaps.

Undoubtedly one of the most rewarding things you can do with a loved one, especially your own child, is go out and plant a tree together and watch it grow with you over the years. Along the way you will be able to go and look at it and remember that special day that you put it in the ground together. That’s a gift you will never forget.
