Growing plants in pots can be very rewarding and a great way to display plants, you can plant almost anything you like from herbs, flowers and even fruit trees. It can however involve a little work and getting the right plants is half the battle. Darren features the best fruiting trees to plant in pots.

Darren's Tips and Facts

  • One thing to consider when choosing your fruit tree is how big will it grow? Will it need full sun or part shade? Rich organic soils for healthy plant growth and will it even grow in your suburb? The one thing that is great about Perth's climate is that it is a sub tropical climate, so do not fear as you can grow almost anything.
  • Most people don't realize that you don't need a big backyard to grow fruit trees and in fact you can grow them almost anywhere including garden beds and pots.
  • Every garden should have at least one fruit tree, there's nothing more rewarding than picking fresh fruit directly from your own fruit tree but to make sure you get the right tree for your situation you should always buy from a tree specialist!
  • We strongly recommend Tass1 Trees, they are one of Perth's best specialist tree growers and grow 1000s of trees per year so you can be sure they know what they are talking about.
  • We've selected some of the best varieties to grow in pots including avocadoes, Guava varieties, Mangoes and a great selection of citrus trees. And once mature they will provide buckets of fruit right through the year.
