Garden Centre of the Week: Eden Gardens
Presenter: Nigel Ruck
Episode: 22 (22nd September 2007)
Nigel visited Eden Gardens, a unique nursery offering a lot more than you’re average garden centre. They have the plant side of things well covered but there is also a whole range of other experiences to be had at Eden Gardens.
If you are shopping for plants or looking for ideas and inspirations then they have a big selection to choose from and it all comes with a quality guarantee. If you need any advice the expert horticulturists are always available to give you guidance.
Interview with Matt Carroll from Eden Gardens:
Nigel:
“Now Matt what’s new in the nursery this spring?”
Matt
“Coming up through this spring we have a great range of Heucheras coming out in different colours, one called Citronelle which is a real vibrant yellow colour, also Caramel”
Nigel:
“Great for shade?”
Matt:
“Yeah, they are great for shade. We also have in some of the Cordylines, a new range of colours in those.”
Nigel:
“Any tips for spring?”
Matt:
“Main thing, it’s a great time to be feeding your lawns, a great time to be getting out in the garden and garden centres having a look at what is flowering this time of year. Everyone tries to build their garden around spring. Now is a great time to see what is going to be in flower and what is going to be looking good in your garden.”
Eden also has an award winning Landscape Designer on site, Eden By Design. You will find all the other bits and pieces you need in the garden such as potting mixes, mulch, fertilisers and tools at Eden Gardens.
In the gift shop there is a fabulous range of home-wares and lifestyle goodies and adjoining that is the book section with best selling titles on the shelves (including Nigel’s own book ‘The Paving Guy’).
The team at Eden even load the car for you, so you can save your back for all the gardening you will want to do after your visit. A real stand out at Eden Gardens is the delicious food on the menu at Dragonfly Café. It has indoor and outdoor seating and a lovely atmosphere.
