Featured Plant - Frangipani ‘Rich Pink’, ‘Blood Red’, ‘Tricolour’, ‘Bowen Yellow’, ‘Bali Whirl’ (Plumeria rubra spp.)

  • Originally from tropical and sub tropical America
  • The name derives from the Charles Plumeria a seventeenth century botanist who described several of the tropical species
  • The genus contains eight species of semi evergreen shrubs and small trees, with succulent stems and very thick fleshy branches
  • The leaves are clustered towards the stem tips and are alternately and spirally arranged
  • Known for its extremely fragrant flower which comes in a range of colours which are five broad simple petals
  • Ideally the plant prefers full sun and moderately fertile, well drained soil
  • The trees can grow up to nine meters tall
  • The branches can be cut off and cultivated easily, it also contains a semi poisonous milky sap
