Autumn and winter is the best time to transplant your plants and Jude shows you some of the essentials to increase your success when moving your precious plants.

- Always make sure your plant is well watered in the days leading up to the move.
- Check that the plant is healthy before you move it; treat pests and diseases prior to moving plant.
- You may want to give it a few pre transplanting doses of seasol to increase the plants health before transplanting
- Have your transplant site prepared before you dig out the plant you want to move.
- Use compost, not fertilizer in your transplant site, only fertilize when you see the first signs of new growth.
- Wrap the root ball in hessian to keep the soil and roots intact when you move the plant.
- Try to get as much soil and root as possible to increase your chances of success.
- When you are happy with your plants new position, water it really well, ensure there are no air holes that will dry out the roots.
- Give it a few drinks of seasol and keep well watered.
