Want to build a new garden but don't know what to do or where to start? Trevor features some great ideas on how to prepare and plan your garden.

Tips and Facts

• It's best to plant major plants first, this will help you take into account how high your garden will be.
• To remove grass in your new garden, dig it up with a spade. Or, if you have time to wait, mow the area as low as you can, cover it with newspaper and add soil or compost then wait 2 weeks for the grass to die.
• Keep in mind the sunny areas around your garden, this will help to choose what plants go where.
• If you want to create patterns and shapes in your garden, take into consideration the architectural shape of your house.
