Story: Pest Control for Ants
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane

Ants can be an unwelcome problem in the garden, especially at this time of the year. Trevor has solutions to ant proof your home and garden.
Tips and Facts

  • Talcum Powder- if you don?t like insecticides and the infestation is not too bad, then you can get rid of ants by laying tracks of talcum around or across trails leading to your home or entertaining areas. The talcum powder is so fine is gets under the body armor and between the joints of ants limbs, irritating them terribly. They usually pack up and move off to areas where the talcum cannot get to them. The trouble is it is only a short term solution as they will always be around.
  • For plague like infestations you may have to use a chemical treatment such as Antex. Always follow the instructions and be careful when applying as the chemicals can be strong.
  • ?A safer method is to apply a liquid wetting agent such as Yates Soil Saturator.? Add to 9 litres of water and water onto the nest. This soaks the nest and washes the ants out.
  • Remember- gardens shouldn?t be completely ant free, but if they get out of control then this is the way to effectively control them.
