With home grown produce being re-discovered all over the country, it's not hard to see why the Mushroom is a poking its head out of the darkness again. They are so simple to grow and are so tasty to eat.
Basic White Button and Portabello (also known as Swiss Brown) are two of the best known varieties and are easy to enough to grow for any home gardener. Garden Express has both kits available to Gurus viewers. Each kit contains the growing soil as well as the mycelium fungi or mushroom compost from which the mushrooms grow.
Simply give them a dark corner and keep them relatively cool (but not over the top, a laundry is fine) and constantly moist and you'll be harvesting in no-time. Be patient, as they keep growing in a couple of spurts, so make sure you keep the moisture in even when you think there are no more to come.
