Transplanting
Episode: #8 19/05/07
Presenter: Dean Boone
Gardens and everything in them are living things, by observing and understanding nature we become better gardeners. For example, if your soil is expelling water you can’t simply just plant a plant and expect it to survive. Right now is a good time for transplanting and establishing new gardens so dean is going to show us how to do it.
Preparation is the key to success but knowing what to do this year and getting it right will be all the more important because of the lack of rain and problems that come with it.
The answer is to use a product that allows the water to get where it is needed, Dean is using the hose-on soil wetter from the Yates waterwise range, which is going to open up the soil and allow the water to percolate through to where it is needed.
There is also a concentrate form that can be used in a watering can where hose-on applications are not allowed. A waterwise soil wetter can be used on both an existing garden and when you are planting a new plant. Dean thinks it is the most important step when establishing a new garden. Using a product like the soil wetter is going to ensure that the garden both grows and thrives.
Even and consistent soil moisture content is going to create the best environment for plants to establish in their new home and of course don’t forget the mulch and use plenty of it.
A healthy soil is one of the most important ingredients to ensure a healthy plant. Ensuring that you do the right preparation is the key to success it is not hard and it is not complicated and it doesn’t every take much time, all it does take is a little bit of preparation.
