Busan Asiad Main Stadium


Situated at 1299 Geoje-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan, the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, which staged the 2002 FIFA World Cup as well as the 14th Asian Games, is a large sized main stadium with a capacity of 53,769 seats. The design of the roof represents the waves of the sea, which symbolizes Busan and enables the stadium to hold various sports meetings regardless of the weather.

This place is a multipurpose stadium that can accommodate various performances and cultural events under its oval-shaped open roof, which is suspended on cables. The deck established like the belts of Saturn, surround the circular stadium to accommodate international events and embodies the harmony of heaven and earth, which leads to unity between the internal and external worlds.

When the stadium holds a large sized even attracting numerous spectators, 30 meters wide artificial open spaces (admission parts) which encircle he stadium, ensure the spectators safe entrance and exit in all directions. The eight lane 400 meter track and evergreen lawn field meet internation standards.

A stadium tour is held which is free on New Year’s Day and Chuseok, or US$1 for adults on other days.
