Episode: #18 18/8/07
Presenter: Nigel Ruck
With summer just around the corner, a few things come to mind, surf, sun and Bindii. Now the councils do a pretty good job controlling weeds in parks and beach reserves, but you always get a few here and there. However in your own backyard, it is a completely different story.
There are a few tricks to keeping your lawn weed free, and yep you guessed it weeding is one of them! Now the big thing is to get onto the weeds straight away, dealing with them as soon as they appear, preventing them from becoming a hideous infestation.
If you allow them to take hold and multiply their eradication becomes an absolute nightmare.
Clearly spraying is much quicker and easier than hand weeding and a great way to control some of the main offenders! Bad weeds like Bindii, Clover, Creeping Oxalis, and other nasty broadleaf weeds that are best put to sleep permanently. Bindii in particular, which has the added annoying feature of those nasty, spiky seeds which is why now is a good time to spray before they flower and then go into seed.
Like with any sprays and garden products always read the instructions to make sure they are appropriate for your situation. There is a Zero trigger pack, or it also comes in a concentrate which you mix up in a watering can.
