Eden Gardens and Garden Centre in North Ryde have a huge selection of the highest quality plants, a fabulous café, an amazing gift shop as well as some great display gardens to wander around for ideas and inspiration.
They have a real mission at Eden Gardens and its all about living life. At Eden Gardens living life means so much more to the team. For the team at Eden Gardens life is all about having fun and making the most of our time on the planet.
They encourage things like lots of outdoor parties and BBQ’s. Yet show you how to do it in a responsible way so that the next generations can come and enjoy our environment just as much.
When you walk around Eden Gardens it may not be overly obvious just how much they have taken the living life concept to heart, but on closer inspection you will see.
Right from the beginning the layout was designed to collect and recycle all their rain water on a massive scale. They have a giant rain water tank as well as a “pool” underneath the garden centre which collects all the rain water. This water is feed back to the plants through their irrigation system. The system is a great example of recycling at its best.
All around the nursery you will find information points to help you lessen your eco foot print and you can attend educational classes which will show you how to harvest your own rain water.
The living life mission is extended right through the staff and the local community. The staff has the opportunity to work with and support Eden’s chosen charities and plants are frequently donated to the community greening programme, where green life is distributed to local residents to help improve their surrounding gardens.
A Sustainability expo will be held on September the 22nd come on down to Eden Gardens, 10-4, entry free; there will be a Taronga Zoo animal show, a freeorganic sausage sizzle as well as a live jazz band, education on sustainable livingand lots more.
