Lawn Edging
Presenter: Phil Dudman
Episode: 22 (22nd September 2007)
If you want a low maintenance garden that’s neat and tidy then it is essential that you have a good solid edge. It keeps the lawn out and holds the moisture and mulch behind the edge where you want it.
You have probably seen edging before from Kwik Kerb; they have been around for about twenty years. They are a classic Aussie success stories with operators all over the world.
The edge is so popular because it’s simple, solid and durable. It looks great and because it’s concrete you can mould it to almost any shape or style. In most cases it can be installed in a day, making it very cost effective.
Interview with Tim Keller from Kwik Kerb
Phil:
“Tim, I see you guys are hard at it what’s the first step?”
Tim:
“First of all we do all of our layout and mark out. After that we lift up the turf with the edge prep machine. Then we’re ready to lay kerb.”
The nifty machine that does the edging is the ‘Edge Master’. It pushes the concrete through a mould and there are different moulds so you have got a good choice of shapes. Once it is layed the colour goes on and a range of colours and techniques can be applied to give you the edging you like.
Before the edging sets, expansion joints are cut into the concrete to stop it from cracking.
Kwik Kerb edging is a great system which takes the hard work out of installing a hard wearing garden edge.
