Compost Bags for Portable Worm Farms

Presenter: Neville Passmore
Episode: 22 (22nd September 2007)

Neville found a great little invention at Jenny Holder’s very special Quandong Garden in Western Australia. Called a castings pouch the great little invention help plants growth by placing a worm farm right next to the root zone.

Compost with worms and kitchen scraps are placed inside a shade-cloth bag which is then positioned beside a new plant. The worms transfer the compost plus their own solid and liquid wasted into the soil.

The results; happy trees and recycled waste from the kitchen and garden that stay on the property instead of filling up the wheely bin.

The compost bags are available from Jenny Holder on 9385 9595, the wonderful Quandong Garden is open as part of the Australia’s Open Garden Scheme.
