Garden Questions Answered (Citrus Bud Mite, Golden Shower Tree and Wisteria Seed)
Presenter: Sue McDougall
Episode: 23 (6th October 2007)
Sue answered some questions for Garden Gurus Club members whilst at Dawson’s Garden World at Forrestfield.
Club member #1:
“Hi Sue I was wondering if you could tell me what’s wrong with my lemon?”
Sue:
“You have citrus bud mite so when the flowers are very small and the lemons are about two millimeters long you need to spray with a miticide like Natrasoap.”
Club member #2:
“We have a young golden shower tree and it is not looking good”
Sue:
“This damage is caused by the cold weather, once it gets to around two metres high it is not as affected by the cold. At the moment you need to feed it with a complete fertiliser to get some beautiful new growth on it”.
Club member #3
“Sue, I have these great big wisteria pods and I am wondering if I can grow plants from them?”
Sue:
“Easy, in here is a big fat seed, put it into a tray with seed raising mix and it will germinate very quickly this time of the year. They do take a long time to flower if you are growing from seed.”
