Garden Express Offer – Agapanthus Black Pantha

Episode: Seven
Date: 19 April 2008
Presenter: Neville Passmore
Story Title: Garden Express Offer – Agapanthus Black Pantha

Whilst Agapanthus can be wildly self seeding in some areas, they are a tough hardy plant that simply manages to survive in other areas with the harshest conditions. One new hybrid variety however has been cleared for planting in any garden, its called the Black Pantha. This variety is virtually sterile, and can only be reproduced by division, (or tissue culture) not by seed.

The Black Pantha has many other attributes, such as the brilliantly deep purple to flowers, of which the buds look almost black. The flowers are always of a uniform height, and the plant retains all of the drought hardy attributes of regular agapanthus.
