Episode: Nine
Date: 3rd May 2008
Presenter: Neville Passmore
Story Title: Ozbreed Flamin
Featured Plant
Flamin (Phormium tenax ‘Flamin’)
- Flamin is a semi compact Phormium, with red, orange and bronze tones. Although it is a single colour Phormium, it uniquely has this tri tone appearance.
- Mass planting, rockeries and ornamental gardens.
- Grows well in full sun to shaded positions. Tolerates heavy frost and moderately dry conditions. Suitable for most soil types. In more humid areas care should be taken to plant in well drained soils.
- Low maintenance once established. When planting Flamin, ensure the crown or base of the plant is not planted below the soil level. Apply coarse grade mulch to reduce weed growth and keep the root zone cold and moist . Water as required.
- Flamin will add fantastic contrast to any landscape or garden, with its unique colour.
