Garden Mulching
Story Title: Garden Mulching
Episode 6: WA's Great Gardens
Date: 14 November 2010
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
One of the most important things you can do in your garden is mulch. For best results don't be afraid to lay a thick layer of 100mm. That way moisture will be held in the soil without evaporating.
Trevor's Tips and Facts
- Not all mulches are the same and you should ideally look for a quality-composted mulch.
- It needs to be coarse and uncomfortable to walk on and a good chunky mix allows air and moisture to seep in but holds it so it struggles to evaporate out.
- Mulches reduce evaporation by up to 60% and every garden should have it laid thick now.
- We specify Biowise mulch in all our landscape work and I use it at home as well with tremendous success.
