Rosie

Story Title: Rosie
Episode 9:
WA's Great Gardens
Date: 5 December 2010
Presenter:
Trevor

One in twelve children in Australia are affected by disability, and one of their greatest challenges is fitting in at school and in the community. Therapy Focus is a not-for-profit organisation that provides therapy and support services for over 2,500 children with a disability or learning disadvantage.

Rosie's Story

It was a godsend learning about Therapy Focus when Rosie was very little. They are a committed, knowledgeable and a caring organisation and their help meant I didn't have to reinvent the wheel. I was very ignorant of what resources and help available and we were assigned a contact who oversaw everything Rosie needed and got it organised, right down to funding for equipment which I could not have afforded.

The wonderful thing about Therapy Focus is that they help in the home and at school so they liaised with the school and funding bodies and TADWA and got toilet steps organised and other aids as well which allowed Rosie to fit in with the other kids and achieve a level of independence she otherwise would not have reached until later and that's priceless at an early age.

We have regular reviews with Therapy Focus and every single person I've met through this organisation has demonstrated the same professionalism, courtesy, interest and willingness to help - nothing is ever too much bother.
