Episode: Three
TX Date: 10th September
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Got a fruit tree with no fruit? It's a frustrating problem with a pretty simple solution. Take Trevor Cochrane's advice and you'll have a better crop before you know it.
Tips and Facts
- For healthier soil and to help a new fruit tree's roots to grow, add Blood N Bone to the planting hole when starting out.
- Feed your new tree with a garden food that's high in nitrogen for the first 12 months.
- Pick the first few crops off completely – this directs the plant's energy from fruit production to growth. It's tough to do this but you'll be rewarded with a terrific crop next year.
- To boost fruit production later on, feed your tree with potash.
