Controlling Weeds in Lawn
Title: Controlling Weeds in Lawn
Episode: 1 Hour WA Easter Special
Broadcast Date: 17 April 2014
Presenter: Darren
It’s fair to say that we all love our lawns, and like most West Aussie landscapers, Darren’s preference is for a soft cool, natural lawn, except when it is choked with weeds and looks anything like the grass he is attempting to tackle in this segment! Tune in to found out how to get your lawn looking lush and weed-free this season.
- Lawns start getting infested with weeds now as seeds germinate with the change of seasons. Now the first thing most gardeners do is attack the weed problem with a hose weed n feed.
- If you've outlaid good money for one of the fantastic new buffo grasses or even the beautiful new Kikuyu varieties like Village Green however, the biggest mistake you will make is applying the normal weed n feed.
- Yates Buffalo Pro Hose-on Weedkiller is specifically designed to be used with all varieties of Buffalo lawns, and to kill the weeds without any adverse effect on the lawn.
- This is because it has a different active ingredient and won’t burn the grass. What it will do, however, is clean up the broadleaf weeds before winter allowing your lawn to grow over patches before winter sets in.
- It also works well because there is an added greening factor that leaves the lawn looking fantastic.
- To use, simply snap the applicator onto a standard hose fitting, turn the water on and you are off and running!
- Take care to avoid spraying your garden plants and if you do accidently hit a plant, hose it off straight away to avoid damage.
- When you’re finished, rinse out the container; it can go in the recycle bin. In a week or so your weeds will be dead and the lawn will be growing vigorously to take their place.
