Tass1Trees might not be a name you are familiar with-but it should be. Chances are, if you have some great fruit trees growing in your backyard right now, they began their life in Joe’s nursery in Middle Swan. Forget apples that are cold-stored for two years, flavorless oranges, and rock hard mangoes, this is the place to go for great, healthy fruit trees that will keep blooming for years to come. You might even come across of fruit you didn’t know existed!
- Mangoes are Joe’s top pick for great Perth fruit trees, they come in a range of varieties, including dwarf trees. Joe particularly loves his Kensington Pride.
- Number four on Joe’s top five fruit trees is the Eureka Lemon. If you don’t have the space for this often towering and bushy tree, try the dwarf or semi dwarf range.
- Number three spot goes to the Barbados Cherry. With each tiny cherry-like fruit containing 30 times the Vitamin C of an orange, this is a must have for any Perth garden.
- The deliciously fresh lychee comes in at number two on Joe’s list. Providing the tree with some well drained soil, and some shelter for the first year will see your tree blossom and provide you with fruit in the years to come.
- Joe’s top pick for the Perth garden goes to the Hass Avocardo. This tree will keep your body full of great nutrients, and will keep your back-pocket looking healthy too; after three or four years you can expect one tree to produce 20 or 30 avocadoes, and after ten years you can expect hundreds-just think of how much this will save on the weekly shop.
- Autumn is the best time of the year to plant fruit trees, so hop to it!
