Trevor explores Ireland’s Bantry Bay House and Garden, a beautiful, expansive property full of inspirational garden ideas and history.
- Originally called ‘Blackrock’, Bantry house was constructed in about 1700 on the south side of Bantry Bay.
- The gardens of Bantry House was developed by the second Earl of Bantry and his wife, their inspiration was taken from their travels in Europe.
- The gardens contain seven terraces while the house itself is located on the third.
- There are one hundred steps located behind the house and are built to appear to rise out from a fountain. The stairs are surrounded by azaleas and rhododendron.
