Building Your Veggie Garden
Story: Building Your Veggie Garden
Episode: 5
Presenter: Nigel Ruck
Air Date: 12th September 2020
A raised veggie garden is easy to put together and a great way to grow your own vegetables.
- Retain-iT posts from Whites are specifically designed for use with timber sleepers and make building a raised veggie garden simple.
- Choose a sunny position in your garden before setting out the posts.
- Cut your sleepers to size and lay them out in a square with the posts to help with the post position. Mark the post holes before digging them.
- Dig the holes with plenty of room around the post for adjustments and adequate concrete to give strength. Put the posts in the holes with the sleepers slotted in.
- Adjust the heights of the posts and sleepers before setting with concrete, ensuring they are all plumb and level.
- There are no screws required with the Retain-iT post system, saving you time and money.
- There’s just enough sway in the posts to allow you to make little tweaks and adjustments, making the job so much easier.
- To work out how much soil you need, use a simple volume calculation- length times width times height.
