Nigel shows us his tricks to get rid of pesky pests, naturally!

• One of the challenges we face in the garden is pests, keen for a feed on our ornamental plants and edibles, you’ll nearly always find a pest or two in the veggie patch, especially in Autumn. Charging in with a heavy dose of poison might be effective but these days most of us prefer a safer, more natural approach.
• Earth Care White Oil insect spray is a natural paraffin oil that is low toxic and very reliable and safe to use on all of your plants including edibles as it uses a food grade paraffin oil.
• These citrus leaf miners are no match for the white oil spray. Ad-lib as per pests we see.
• Leaf Miner - small adult moth lays eggs in new growth, larvae tunnel and feed inside the leaf.
• Scale - sap suckers, new growth, green, brown, orange, black. Large numbers, fast reproduction, nasty damage and lead to viruses.
• Mealy Bugs - Mealybugs are an extremely common pest which suck sap from a broad range of plants. There are several different types (e.g. citrus mealybug, longtailed mealybug) and their feeding causes weakened growth, wilting and foliage distortion. They also produce honeydew which attracts ants and causes sooty mold to develop.
• Spider Mite - Viburnum
• Aphids - These annoying little sap suckers come in green, brown, black and orange
