Like he’s just stepped onto the movie set, Trevor visit’s Tunde’s ode to her favourite film. Get ready for a song and dance!
- Originally from Hungary, Tunde Szentesi moved to Ireland in 2006, where her hobby as a gardener expanded into a new career path. After working a number of years in gardening, Tunde earned a BTEC Higher Diploma in Landscape Design at SCD before studying for a degree in landscape architecture at the University of Gloucestershire, after which she established her garden and landscape business. Her hard work has certainly paid off too, she is a Bloom multi-award winner having won Silver Gilt and Silver Medals in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017, along with a ‘Best in Category’ in 2013.
- Tünde’s creations combine practicality, beauty and harmony with innovative solutions, reflecting her artistic sensibility through the application of colour and form.
- This years display is utterly and completely inspired by the movie MAMMA MIA! And takes its visitor right to the heart of the set - exotic Kalokairi, and its beautiful Greek landscape and architecture.
- Unashamedly, Tunde wanted to replicate the Mamma Mia set almost to a tee, from the white washed walls and deep blue highlights right down to the film’s famous Hotel Bella Donna. This display brings the iconic Greek architecture straight into the garden.
- Using the iconic Greek architectural elements of the white stone walls, patios, blue painted wooden doors and windows alongside a bougainvillea and vine pergola with olive trees, figs, potted red geraniums and aromatic herbs, visitors are transported straight into the magical world of Mamma Mia.
- The logistics of such a garden is no mean feat! The whole process started late last year, with planting getting underway in November and December. The construction process of the architecture was a gruelling and intense 3 weeks of building.
- The stout olive tree that sits in front of Tunde’s display is an astonishing 450 years old and took a bit of convincing of the “tree fairies” to get it to Bloom.
