Growing your winter vegetables in a pot is the perfect solution if you don’t have enough room in the garden.
- Winter is the ideal time for planting many different types of vegetables, including brassicas and alliums
- Mini cauliflower is a compact variety with 10-15cm heads on short plants.
- Baby broccoli is also known as broccolini. Its stems and leaves are edible, and not just its heads.
- Onion purplette is similar to a shallot and turns pink when cooked or pickled.
- Make sure you use a premium quality potting mix that contains fertiliser and wetting agent.
- Fill the pot up to 30% with the potting mix before adding the plants. Don’t be scared to pack them in.
- Fill any of the remaining gaps with the potting mix and water them in with Seasol to prevent transplant shock.
